A Cambridge College Tour

I was shown around the colleges of Cambridge, including places an ordinary visitor does not reach. Every chapel is different from the last.

Last updated: 4 September 2026

  • King's College Chapel. In 2018 it was here that I first met the English cathedral choir tradition.
  • The chapel of Queens' College.
  • The chapel of Emmanuel College.
  • The reredos, inscribed SVRSVM CORDA — lift up your hearts.
  • The organ of Emmanuel College Chapel.
  • Trinity College Chapel — and here, too, I was able to sing.
  • A grand piano standing in the chapel.
  • The court at night.
  • A member of staff fetched the key to the tower so that we could climb it. No ordinary tour would do that.
  • The grass had died back. It had been a very hot summer, they said.
