To Worcester

I came to look in August, and moved in on 3 September. From 12 September I sing with the choir of this cathedral.

  • Worcester Cathedral. I came to see it in August.
  • The high altar.
  • The organ, seen from the quire. This is where I shall be singing.
  • Knitted figures perched on top of a postbox.
  • A mechanical bull at Birmingham New Street, where I changed trains. Ozzy the Bull, they call him.
  • Snoopy, at the same station. The plinth says: Do not climb.
  • 3 September. Arrived. Worcester has two stations.
  • From the window of the room. The middle of town, ten minutes' walk from the cathedral.
  • The first meal in Worcester. Emergency rice — just add hot water — proved its worth.
  • Oatmeal the next morning. No rice yet, and no pan.
