Yanagiya Choir Academy 柳谷クワイヤー・アカデミーA Japanese Tenor's Cathedral Challenge

Support the mission

Not just "cheering me on" — walking this road together.

This culture won't grow in a day. Like prayer, it builds up slowly, step by step. If you choose to support this journey, I'll keep sending word back from Britain, as a companion on the road.

Why this is worth supporting

Three reasons.

One

A testimony of a life

An earthquake, depression, and the recovery that followed. This is the next step of a life lived out through "rising again, still carrying the wounds."

Two

The purity of the calling

Not for fame, not for achievement — for the single reason of offering it to God, I'm leaving my post at 57 and crossing the sea.

Three

A future Japan doesn't yet have

This is one man's dream, and at the same time it's the first investment in a culture Japan doesn't yet have: sacred music as a part of daily worship.

Pray

This journey is carried by your prayers. Please pray that, as God wills it, this real British choir life can continue.

By PayPal or credit card

If you don't log in to PayPal, you'll just need an email address.

Monthly supporters

Each plan has 4% added to cover the PayPal handling fee, so the amount charged is £5.20, £10.40, £15.60 or £26.00. That way the whole of the £5, £10, £15 or £25 you have chosen reaches the work itself.

One-time gift (any amount)

Give a one-time gift

Please set the amount yourself. Because of the transaction fees, I would ask that gifts be £5 or more.

By bank transfer

Bank transfer

The account is held under the name 〈Yusuke Yanagiya(ヤナギヤ ユウスケ)〉.
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation
Olive GRAY Branch (Branch No. 784)
Ordinary account 2367898
SWIFT/BIC SMBCJPJT

Once you've made the transfer, please let me know by email.

The exact information your bank will ask for varies by country, so please email me first — I'll send you complete, verified transfer details. For most people outside Japan, PayPal above will be simpler.

With any kind of support

Every supporter receives all of the following.

  • Monthly reports from Britain (music sung in worship, day-to-day life)
  • Videos and essays on YouTube and note
  • An invitation to an online prayer gathering

Everything sent to you comes by way of A Real Choral Life in the UK, the email newsletter. If you have not subscribed yet, please do.

Frequently asked

FAQ

What is the money used for?

Mainly living costs in Britain, along with sheet music, choir robes, Safeguarding/DBS procedures, and travel costs. I'll report honestly on how funds are used, both here and in reports from the field.

Is this a religious recruitment effort?

No. This is one man's journey of musical and spiritual testimony. Your support is encouragement, not a request to join a faith.

Can I support this even if I'm not a Christian?

Of course. Anyone who loves choral music, or simply wants to cheer on a challenge, is very welcome.

Will I be able to follow along?

Yes. Monthly reports, YouTube, and note will show the whole journey. Past reports are collected on the Reports page.

Is a one-time gift okay too?

Yes. A one-time gift, or a bank transfer, is welcomed wholeheartedly.
